Miss my son. Miss not having friends to hang with. Miss my mom. But I am feeling great none the less. I went out for lunch today with hubby to the Mexican place that always sounds so yummy but their menu has no low carb or whole wheat options and its all burritos and salads. I can make a better lower calorie salad at home, thank you. If I’m going to eat out, I want something that isn’t so easy to make at home. SO I walk in with hubby and am prepared to order a salad anyway. Then out of curiosity I asked, “Why don’t you offer low carb or whole wheat tortillas?” She said, “We do, we offer both options.” It is NO WHERE on the menu and they didnt’ even charge more for it! SO ASK!! I cant believe all the times in a hurry I passed them up because I didn’t think they had those options for me. Oh, it’s Taco Del Mar by the way. Careful though, their whole wheat tortilla alone is 300 calories! Their low carb is a better caloric choice. Just depends dietary needs. I only ate half. And then I was reminded of one of those funny things we learn from our kids. My mom and I thought once that we should write a book of the things we never ever thought would have to come out of our mouth. Like, “Don’t eat that paper cup!” or “Don’t lick the foamy bubbles in the jacuzzi.” My son was a 6′2 teenager when I had to tell him, “Please don’t peel the paint off the ceiling of the shower while you’re in there.” Anyway, our kids teach us more than we teach them if we only shut up and listen to what they have to say sometimes. Best conversation my mom ever had once was when she was zoning in and out and not even paying real close attention for several hours on a car trip. Later she was informed that was the “BEST conversation ever”! LMAO And I was reminded today of my son teaching me that “go hang a salami” backwards, spells “Im a lasagna hog.” Now where else would we learn such valuable things? Have a glorious Friday! *hugs*
