Liquid diets are everywhere. One popular option is the HMR diet, but is it the right diet for you?
About HMR
The Health Management Resources Diet, also known as the HMR diet, is an easy to follow home diet plan that makes it fairly simple to lose weight and keep it off. Unlike many other diet plans on the market, the company claims that you can eat a wide variety of foods, eat as much as you need to stay full, and still lose weight on a weekly basis.
How HMR Works
The HMR diet is an at home diet program, and offers two do-it-yourself weight loss kits that are not difficult to follow. The Healthy Solutions Quick Start Diet Kit consists of low calorie shakes and a wide variety of meals, all of which are low in calories and allow you to eat as much as you need to stay full. The plan involves consuming three shakes per day, two of the prepackaged entrees, and five full servings of fruits and vegetables which need to be added in by the dieter. Because the shakes and meals are both low in calories, you can actually eat more if you need to and still get results.
The other plan offered by HMR is the Healthy Shakes Diet Kit, which is preferred by those who still want to eat their own meals. It involves consuming three shakes per day, five servings of fruit and vegetables, and one healthy meal of your choice instead of a prepackaged meal. It works by replacing high calorie meals with a filling chocolate or vanilla shake, so it is easy to consume fewer calories to promote overall weight loss.
Other Parts of the Diet
In addition to the diet materials, the HMR diet offers counseling for those who need support during their weight loss. The at home diet plan offers weekly phone counseling sessions, where one can regularly talk with a licensed dietician about any struggles or questions. A dieter can also choose to attend scheduled meetings if they have them in their area, or even consult in their primary care physician with any questions or concerns.
A Few Downfalls
Although many can use HMR to lose weight, some doctors are not fans of the diet because almost every one of their products is soy based. Some doctors are not comfortable having patients consuming that much soy.
Some dieters also find it to be bland, limiting and expensive. The HMR program is made up of meal replacements including shakes and prepackaged dinner products that can be eaten at room temperature, but do not appeal to everyone.
Most people can really lose weight on the program, but it may be difficult to stick with until the weight is gone.
(That is why we recommend Medifast. It tastes great and is a really healthy alternative! Your doctor will agree!
