So before the New Year comes, I thought I’d write down what my goals are for the coming year. Not much different from last year, but at least if I write them down I’ll have something to aim for. So here they are:
1) Get more exercise- I’m going to keep up with the Tai Chi, but need to add to it. I’m thinking of joining the Y, using the indoor swimming pool and maybe the (dreaded) treadmill.
2) Get more writing done- and keep track of how much I write throughout the year. Specific goals: rewrite the urban fantasy, finish book 2 of the fantasy, and if there’s enough time- work on finishing the novel that started as a short story.
3) Three submissions this year- one is already planned, so it should be doable.
4) Attend the RT conference in Orlando (and meet even more of my blog buddies).
5) Loose weight- I’m thinking of doing the Atkins for the first month and then switching to Weight Watchers)
6) Organize my apartment- still working on this one.
7) Post more on my blog.
8) Read more nonfiction (some of those books are going to come from the Great Books list).
9) Eat out less (and invite my friends over for dinner more often).
That’s all I can think of at the moment, and it is now 2009, so I will say Happy New Year, and good night. :)

A New Year is nipping at our heels, but YBP has had such an amazing 2008 we’re kind of sad to see it go. Here’s a toast to all of you that have supported us and helped our project grow. May 2009 be a safe, healthy, and happy year. From all of us here to all of you out there…twirpiditty twirpy twirp (thank you in YBP).

Here is a recap of just a few fantabulous YBP moments of 2008.

- Round of applause for , with their rings of musical fire… , and their whale of a journey… and of course , with their musical cascade of waves.

- YBP theme song. Check it out if it’s not on your top 25 already!

- New Poster art! While personally YBP posters already serve as the basis for my apartment’s wallpaper…we added some more amazing poster art to help rock out your place!

- Amazing YBP inspired photography. Like where has your glamour magazine been, these pictures nicely demonstrate YBP tee’s range!

- Blogs, Blogs, and more blogs! We officially declare 2008 the year of the YBP blogger. Check out musically inspired blogs-Middle Distance Runner is an absolute must on your morning web browse! Look for his interviews with Birdie Busch and Nicole Atkins. Move over caffeine, hello YBP blogs.

- Cougarman returns to guide your guitar fantasies…from Bon Iver to Wolf Parade.

- YBP is on TV. This yellowbird is really garnering some Hollywood attention. Our t-shirts were worn by one of the characters on the Canadian television program, ‘The Border’.

- YBP customer testimonials. We really appreciate your support, comments, and suggestions. Keep helping us spread the good word!

- And of course new amazing bands and even more awe-inspiring, jaw-dripping, piss your pants fabulous tee-shirts!

- Last but not least in these hard economic times the YBP community has really come through and helped make this holiday season a lot more cheery for those in need. It’s important to remember that even though these times are hard for all of us and our pockets may seem on the light side, it is now more than ever that we need to give, give, and give. So from YBP and all our affiliated charities…

Here’s to a brand new year; a year of endless possibilities, musical journeys, and a better world…one tee shirt at a time.

Happy New Year folks! Let’s make 2009 brighter than times square at midnight.

Though certainly not exhaustive, the list represents what I enjoyed listening to (and listening to again) this past year: Singles, album tracks, huge hits, and songs that deserved to be as big but weren’t.

To listen to clips or purchase any of these, visit the Popservations - Top Tunes of 2008 iMix posted on iTunes. Thirteen tracks on my list aren’t available there; some are UK-only releases, the Girl Talk and Mark Vidler mashups are available via their respective sites, and the previously unreleased Garbage track can be found on ,sold exclusively at Urban Outfitters.

I’ve written about many of the songs and artists on the list, so use the Search box in the left-hand column to read up.

Here’s hoping 2009 brings an equally eclectic mix of good tunes!
