My Top 3

The New Year. A time for new beginnings. Time to start things you always wanted to do. A time of inspiration. A reason to make a new promise to yourself. What if there is nothing to promise?

I know I’m being dramatic, but every goal that I could have made in the New Year has already been made. My progress has been started and even if I hit a small wall or two, they’re still in progress. I am feeling a bit sad that I don’t have any big goals for the New Year. I thought I would just list my progress of certain things here just so I can feel better about myself that I’m accomplishing something. It’s always better to see it laid out in front of you.

Lose Weight: This has been an ongoing thing since last Februrary, and if you want to be really particular, most of my life. In February 2008, I was at my heaviest ever. I started Nutrisystem for the first time and I made the decision that I was going to lose weight until I was happy with myself. Since then? I lost 30 pounds, gained back almost 20, and then lost approximately 15. So I’m not doing all the bad, right? No. I had a setback but it’s all victories from here.

365days: So many people have been starting their Flickr 365 in the New Year. Suddenly I feel left out because I don’t have one to start. I started my Flickr 365 in November. A strange month to start, and I knew that I would probably feel this way when the New Year started but I guess it’s just as well that I got 2 month’s practice over everyone else, right? I even started a 365 for my cat in December. The month doesn’t matter, right? It’s still going to last for a year.

101 in 1001: Ah, another internet meme. 101 things to do in 1001 days. It’s a common thing amongst bloggers on the internet today. It’s exactly what it sounds like: create a list of 101 things that you want to accomplish in 1001 days and then keep track of it. Well, once again many people choose to start this on the New Year, but I’ve had my 101 in 1001 list since November when I started it. Again, it doesn’t really matter, but I still feel left out that I already have one.

I guess that I just wanted a new start with something. I always say I’m against resolutions but it’s always good to start a New Year fresh and exciting. I know I’m being ridiculous but I’m just feeling a bit unfulfilled today.

I need to look at the positives of this year. So many things are going to change for me that are huge life changes, but they just seem so far away still. I guess I just wanted things that I could work towards every day and see visual progress at all times. Here I am being ridiculous again.

Did you start any cool goals in 2009?
