High-profile actors? Not really.
While the cast of Boy Meets World remains near and dear to my heart, and the hearts of millions of people who grew up in our favorite decade, we can all admit that none of them have really scored much success since. They are destined to grow up known for their work on Boy Meets World, just like that guy that played Shooter McGavin on Happy Gilmore. Not that that’s a bad thing, in either case.
So, an update is necessary at this point! It’s been 16 years since the start of the show back in 1993, and good grief, it’s been NINE years since it went off the air! Holy cow! I wonder how everyone is doing. Let’s find out, shall we?
Ben Savage/Cornelius “Cory” Matthews
Ben graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Political Science. He spent 2003 as an intern for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), and he also was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Can you imagine how many chicks came to those frat parties? I mean, really. If you knew freaking Cory Matthews would be doing body shots and keg stands, wouldn’t you show up?
He’s had some bit parts and done some independent movie work over the past few years. Chuck fans know him as “Mark Ratner” from his cameo in the series, and he also was a murder suspect on an episode of Without a Trace.
He’s still reportedly great friends with his former co-stars.
Rider Strong/Shawn Hunter
Since checking out of Boy Meets World, Rider starred in the terrible Eli Roth movie (and isn’t THAT an oxymoron?), Cabin Fever. God help us, there’s a sequel in the works. Rider is also involved in the independent film scene, and wrote and directed a film called Irish Twins with his brother Shiloh.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude (show-off) from Columbia University, majoring in English (atta boy!). He loves to write poetry, and for a period of time, he had a website with a bunch of poetry on it.
Will Friedle/Eric Matthews
Perhaps the busiest person on this list, Will has been enjoying pretty steady work. He co-starred in National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers with that guy that played the Sherminator in those American Pie movies. Yeah, it’s not all great work, but it’s work.
Keen listeners will recognize Will’s voice from Batman Beyond and Ron Stoppable from Kim Possible. He graduated from Occidental College - weird name, hey? He’s also best friends with actor Jason Marsden, who played “Jason” on Boy Meets World, and “Rich” on Step By Step. In October 2004, he was best man in Marsden’s wedding.
Danielle Fishel/Topanga Lawrence-Matthews
One of the original loves of my life, Fishel has also been fairly busy. She cranked out a couple of crappy movies - National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze, and National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2: College At Sea. Yippee. Then she worked a few independent films as well.
She showed up a couple years ago on The Tyra Banks Show discussing her dramatic weight loss using the Nutrisystem Diet, and became a spokeswoman for it. She now is the host of The Dish, a Style Network rip-off of E!’s The Soup. If you’re currently a rip-off of Joel McHale, something’s gone terribly, terribly wrong.
She did date Ben Savage for a while during their run as Cory and Topanga. She also dated Matthew Lawrence, who played Jack Hunter. Rumors that she dated Mr. Feeny are unsubstantiated. She also dated Lance Bass, who wound up gay. I wonder how she feels about an ex switching teams. Apparently, they’re still good friends, and she was seen in the audience during the recent Dancing With The Stars season.
Others
Rachel got a bunch of plastic surgery and is now a blonde with big boobs; Angela is probably retired because she was old enough to be the cast’s mother (actually, she was born in 1969 - and she was playing a college student in 2000!). She actually is with her husband and children somewhere; Feeny does guest spots as people of authority pretty much anywhere; Jack is still a Lawrence brother (WHOA!); Minkus still plays nerds; Frankie is on My Name is Earl; Joey “The Rat” plays guitar for Rilo Kiley; and Morgan is oddly attractive.
