My Top 3

Hello my loves, and happy 2009! I’ve been hearing all kinds of fun descriptions of 2009… “doin’ fine in 09″, “ho-9″, “drink lots o’ wine in 09″, “hope I don’t wait too long in line in 09″, “don’t wanna be a victim of crime in 09″, “diggin’ a mine in 09″, etc… Okay, I made some of those up.

Anywho, did anyone make New Year’s resolutions this year? I did not. I just don’t do it. I’m too bad at follow through. I do, however, have a couple of suggestions for those who do make the New Year’s resolutions. More specifically, for those who make the most popular of New Year’s resolutions - to be healthier! I have two excellent books that I want to share with you all. The first one is a tried and true favorite that I’ve owned and loved for a couple of years - SuperFoods RX: Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life by Steven G. Pratt. This book highlights fourteen of the best foods that you can possibly ingest. It gives you cooking, shopping and kitchen tips and is an easy read.

The second book is a newer one that I received as a Christmas gift from my awesome sister. It is Super Natural Cooking: Five Ways To Incorporate Whole And Natural Ingredients Into Your Cooking by Heidi Swanson. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that if you care at all about eating healthy, you should own this book. Swanson not only provides excellent recipes (of the ones I’ve tried, ALL are good), but she highlights natural foods and explains why they are better than their counterparts. She also highlights the counterparts and gives excellent insight into those and why they are bad for you. It’s a complete guide. She walks you through setting up your pantry, how to cook certain foods, recipes, and even provides a listing of online sites to purchase the food. Check it out and stick with that New Year’s Resolution!

As a side note (similar to this thread), The Biggest Loser is back tonight! I know, I know, I dropped off with my BL Jillian posts last season, but I promise to keep up with it this time around. It just got boring because they were showing less and less Jillian with each passing week. I am confident that we’ll see lots of Jillian in this new season, though, as all of the producers have had ample time to read my blog and register my complaints.
